Exciting news and big events for PSSI Global Services this week. As you may have heard, PSSI Global Services has acquired Pittsburgh International Telecommunications. We now own and operate the teleport as well as the Pittsburgh Videotech Center, a full-service live insert studio in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. Senior Vice President Brian Nelles and Operations Manager Clint Bergeson have been in Pittsburgh all week welcoming our newest employees to the PSSI family. There are some big plans for expanded service offerings at PSSI International Teleport in the weeks and months to come, so stay tuned!
All the while, our trucks and engineers keep on rolling. Here’s a glance at our busy schedule this weekend:
Wes Hill is getting set at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles for the 2017 BET Awards. Providing impeccable transmission services for major awards shows is among our specialties, and we’re happy to be on-site yet again for our friends at Viacom.
Viacom also has us in New York City this weekend for huge Bellator events: Bellator 180, immediately followed by the Sonnen vs. Silva pay-per-view. PSSI Global Services will be transmitting the action live in 4K and HD. We will have four trucks on-site, including the CK25 mobile teleport, to traffic several pathways out of Madison Square Garden.
There’s plenty more MMA on the plate for this weekend as well. Jim Flowers, Ron Ford, Dave Brin and project manager Garrett Hunt have converged on the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City for UFC Fight Night 112, Chiesa vs. Lee. Viewers around the world will be tuning in on Saturday night for what will surely be an exciting night of fighting in the great state of Oklahoma.
Meanwhile, senior engineer Mark Huss and project manager Michael Hollander have been providing extensive audio services and telephone coordination for a satellite media tour and press conference featuring top boxers Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez. This is part of a worldwide promotional tour for the main event on September 16 in Las Vegas. Of course, we’ll be there for that, too!
As usual, we are also broadcasting a lot of golf programming for Golf Channel. We have trucks and engineers in Wisconsin, Connecticut, Virginia and Arkansas providing extensive live coverage of tournaments and news from these beautiful courses.
NASCAR has us in Iowa and California this weekend. First up is the Iowa Speedway, where seasoned uplink engineer Todd Harvey is all set for Friday night’s Camping World Truck Series M&Ms 200. He stays put at the track for the NASCAR Xfinity Series American Ethanol E15 250 on Saturday night, when he will be joined by engineer Larry Sheets in a Ku-band truck.
In California, our C27 mobile teleport and the NASCAR team are setting up for a weekend of racing action at the Sonoma Raceway. From there, our intrepid double-team drivers will hustle the C27 all the way to Daytona for the following weekend’s races. Never a dull moment!
