It was a great week for PSSI Global Services at this year’s NAB Show in Las Vegas. We had several productive and exciting discussions with long-time customers, potential new clients, and other colleagues and vendors in the industry. It’s a dynamic time in the broadcast industry, and PSSI Global Services is leading the way as we continue to expand our service offerings with more trucks, cutting-edge technology, and the best engineering and operations staff in the business.
While we’re busy planning for the future, we still have plenty of transmissions to manage in the present!
It’s a busy weekend of golf. Blake Blomstrom is down at TPC Louisiana outside New Orleans for the Zurich Classic. Blake has his hands full with a triple-path multiplexed transmission and an elaborate comms setup for multiple standup positions. Blake and our CK25 mobile teleport are two of our finest assets, and everything is going great. Next up for CK25 is the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. It’s going to be an even bigger show!
This weekend we’re preparing for the World’s Largest Golf Outing on Monday. We have trucks and engineers at three different locations in Florida and Virginia to provide Golf Channel with extensive live coverage of this charitable event. PSSI Global Services is proud to be a part of the single largest charitable golf event held on one day, an event that makes a significant positive impact in the lives of hundreds of thousands of our nation’s veterans and communities around the country.
We spent a lot of time last fall in Lubbock, Texas, providing transmissions of Texas Tech football. We’re back in Lubbock this weekend, but this time it’s for baseball! Senior engineers Rick Ball and Ron Ford are there for a seven-channel “at-home” transmission for ESPN on Saturday and Sunday. So long as the weather holds, Ron and Rick are looking forward to a great weekend of college baseball.
We also have more baseball in Annapolis on Saturday, where Navy hosts Bucknell for a double-header on CBS Sports Network.
There’s more tennis this weekend, as well. LA-based engineer John Jennings has worked his way up the coast to provide C-band transmission services for Tennis Channel’s coverage of the Match for Africa at KeyArena in Seattle. A little closer to home, Ojai resident Steve Adams is pretty much in his backyard this weekend as he provides the uplink for the Pac-12 Tennis Championships at Ojai Valley Athletic Club.
Our engineering and operations staff at our facility in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, have been busy this week. They’ve been preparing for a couple of rooftop flyaway transmissions in New York City for corporate clients early next week. We have two 1.2m antennas prepped and ready to go where a truck just won’t fit.
We also have another WWE pay-per-view this weekend: WWE Payback at the SAP Center in San Jose. Our intrepid WWE crew has a few shows in California before hauling the CK30 all the way back to the East Coast for some routine maintenance. It’s great to have time for a tune-up while WWE has our engineer and project manager in London for a series of events across the pond.
We already have a strong crew in London this weekend for HBO and Showtime’s joint presentation of Joshua vs. Klitschko at Wembley Stadium. Senior project managers Eric Hall and Victor Verno are working with top engineer Mike Lemieux and trusted local vendors to bring this fight back to the U.S. and to viewers all over the world.
