First up is Bellator 178. We’re back at Mohegan Sun resort and casino in Connecticut with three trucks and three of our top engineers for more MMA action. PSSI Global Services is proud to be the exclusive transmission provider for the Bellator series. There are many more big events to come throughout the summer!
Just up the road at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York City-based engineer Mati Kerpen is getting ready for some Showtime Championship Boxing. This weekend it’s Andre Berto vs. Shawn Porter, and Mati will be encoding the fiber path for Showtime and the international feed. Project manager Victor Verno will be there as well to coordinate the phones and internet for production and check in with licensees around the world.
We’re getting set up at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, for a UFC Fight Night. Senior engineers John Bright and Jim Flowers are prepping our CK25 mobile teleport while senior project manager Keith Valeri ensures a flawless broadcast for both domestic and international viewers.
It’s a pay-per-view weekend in Los Angeles Saturday night. Tracy Michaels is the engineering lead on this event. He’s overseeing two trucks—including CK35—and three engineers for the worldwide distribution of Valdez vs. Marriaga. We will also be receiving the signal at our Las Vegas facility and streaming it to YouTube and Facebook on behalf of our client.
Tennis, anyone? Rick Varney and the C36 are on-site at the Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel, Florida, providing transmission services for Tennis Channel’s domestic and international broadcasts of the Fed Cup.
As usual, there’s plenty of golf on our schedule! We have two trucks transmitting back and forth with each other in Missouri. Todd Harvey is finishing up coverage at the Buffalo Ridge Golf Course in Hollister, Missouri, and Mike Sheehan will finish out the weekend at the Top of the Rock in Ridgedale, Missouri.
Craig Henry is on-site at the Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Indiana, providing Golf Channel with tourney coverage of the United Leasing and Finance Championship. The weather is a little dicey, but Craig will be there as long as it takes for the golfers to finish up their week.
Down in San Antonio, Texas, Kevin Spangler is providing multipath transmission services at the Valero Texas Open. Once we wrap up there, Kevin hands off our C47 truck to Wes Hill in Dallas for the Volunteers of America golf tournament in Irving, Texas.
NASCAR is back this week, live from the Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee. Our regular NASCAR team has been on-site all week gearing up for the big race on Sunday. As soon as we wrap up Sunday night, C27 driver extraordinaire Scott Shoemaker takes the tractor-trailer to Richmond to prepare for next weekend’s action.
We’re up in Vancouver, British Columbia, this weekend for the North American League of Legends Championship Series. Vegas-based engineer Joe Cox is encoding and transmitting a 1080p signal for our clients there. This full HD format is a relatively recent development in broadcast technology, and PSSI Global Services is ahead of the curve with integrating the encoding and monitoring equipment to handle this format.
