A remarkable season of college football draws to a close in Tampa, Florida, where PSSI is teaming up with ESPN to provide an unprecedented amount of programming from all over the city. Eight of our top engineers have been in town all week for all of the fanfare leading up to the big game on Monday, Jan. 9.
- John Bright and our CK25 truck are at the Tampa Museum of Art near Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park for ESPN College GameDay coverage.
- Nick Ray and our C43 truck will be at the convention center for transmissions of Mike & Mike in the Morning and ESPN First Take.
- Steve Toth and the C41 are providing Media Day coverage at the Amalie Arena.
- Last but not least, we have five engineers, our C27 dual-dish truck and a room full of equipment at Raymond James Stadium for total game coverage. Over both fiber and satellite, our engineers are transmitting three separate eight-channel muxes and receiving 16 inbound paths from ESPN headquarters in Bristol. Ben Bradshaw, Craig Henry, Rick Varney, Kenny Holley and Rick Ball have their hands full providing ESPN with a total transmission solution for the biggest game of what has been a stunningly successful season of football.

Of course, that’s not all we’re up to this weekend! Here’s a brief look at what the rest of our team is doing on yet another busy weekend.
- Our engineers are settled in at the Plantation Course at Kapalua for the first PGA event of the year on Golf Channel. From there, our truck and engineers will travel over to the big island for the Sony Open next week.
- We have more golf all the way across the country as we start the season in Florida with the Morgan Pressel Charity Event on Monday followed by the Diamond Resorts Invitational in Lake Buena Vista.
- WWE Raw is in New Orleans on Monday night, followed by Smackdown in Baton Rouge on Tuesday.
- We are goodnighting another great week of coverage at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. All of our Vegas-based engineers (and a few from Los Angeles) were busy this week!
- It’s Golden Globes weekend in LA, where we have two trucks providing domestic and international distribution of this first big awards show of the season. We will be helping out with red carpet coverage as well as the main show from the fabulous Beverly Hilton hotel.
- Up North the snow is starting to fall. We’re helping the The Weather Channel cover the storms in Sacramento on Saturday, and we will likely head up into the Sierra Nevada mountains for more coverage as the snow piles up.
- We are hoping the weather holds for another busy weekend of college basketball out East. We have games in Richmond, Philly, Syracuse, Newark and Providence. We’ve also got a game in Logan, Utah, where Utah State hosts University of Nevada Las Vegas. It’s snowing there, too!
- One place it is very unlikely to snow is at the Sandals Resort in Great Exuma, Bahamas. Senior engineer Mike Lemieux is enjoying the sunshine in between transmissions for Golf Channel at the Web.com tournament in Emerald Bay. Tough gig!
