Our team has another packed week up ahead, with coast-to-coast (and beyond) projects ranging from sporting events to entertainment awards shows.
It’s Time for Some Golf!
- We’ll be there helping out as Golf Channel wraps up its news coverage at the CareerBuilder Challenge in La Quinta, California, this weekend. From there, we’re heading down to Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla on Sunday for the Farmers Insurance Open.
- Our annual golfing trip to Hawaii is wrapping up, as well. Senior Engineer Craig Henry and our C15 truck will finish at the Hualālai Golf Club in Kona on Saturday, and both assets will work their way back across the Pacific. Aloha!
- All the way across the country, we have two big Golf Channel events in Orlando. Tracy Michaels and the CK25 will be at Demo Day in Winter Garden while Nick Ray and the C43 will be at the PGA Merchandise Show.
- Still farther east, we have a few guys and two antennas in the Bahamas for more Golf Channel work. Kevin Spangler and Marc Sarazin are working hard in Marsh Harbour at the Abaco Club for the Great Abaco Classic.
- Blake Blomstrom and the C24 are parked at the Ocean Club Golf Course at the beautiful Atlantis Resort for the Pure Silk Classic. Blake will be assisting Golf Channel with news and tournament coverage, including special coverage of Japanese golfers for distribution to Tokyo.
Winter Sports
- Back on the mainland, we’ll be helping CBS cover two basketball games this weekend. Rick Ball is in Gainesville, Florida, for Vanderbilt’s visit to the Gators. Todd Harvey is up in Lawrence, Kansas, for the big Texas vs. Kansas game. From there, he’ll head east for the following weekend’s Michigan vs. Michigan State game in East Lansing.
- CBS SportsNet and other regional affiliates are keeping us plenty busy throughout the country as well. This weekend we’re covering basketball in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts; Akron, Ohio; Syracuse, New York; West Point, New York; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Reno, Nevada. Basketball season is in full swing, to say the least!
- There’s also more hockey on the schedule for PSSI this week. We’re back in Orono, Maine, for University of Maine hockey. Our Chicago truck is in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for some AHL action, as well.
Los Angeles Live
- We are kicking off a very busy week in our own backyard with a bang: Bellator 170 at The Forum is Saturday night!
- In the wee hours of Tuesday morning, we’ll have an engineer and a project manager on hand at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences for the much-anticipated Oscar nominations. And of course, we’ll be there in full force for the big show in February!
- We’re already preparing for the SAG awards the following weekend, where we’ll be providing the transmission of the event for the TNT/TBS simulcast, as well as worldwide distribution.
- That same weekend, we’ll also be at the Staples Center for the NHL All-Star Game, and there are some big boxing matches going on, as well. All of our LA- and Vegas-based trucks, engineers and project managers will be working hard!
Last, but certainly not least, our trucks, engineers and project managers are wrapping up exclusive coverage of the inaugural festivities in Washington, D.C. PSSI/Strategic Television is proud and grateful to have been on-site for this historic event.
