Happy New Year from PSSI/Strategic Television! We are barreling toward 2017 with all the momentum of a busy and successful 2016. Here’s a look at what we’re up to this action-packed holiday weekend, the last of the year!
We are in the heart of the college football bowl season as our engineers prep for the New Year’s Six. We are proud to be ESPN’s primary transmission provider for all the biggest games in college football.
- We have two engineers and our C36 truck on-site at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Our guys have been doing live shots for SportsCenter and other ESPN programming as they prepare for the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday.
- Our CK35 mobile teleport will be heading to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl this weekend. We’ll also have a second truck there for KTLA’s coverage of the Rose Parade. PSSI is proud to be a part of this great Southern California tradition.
- We’ll be in El Paso, Texas, for the Sun Bowl, which airs Friday afternoon on CBS. From there we race east to AT&T Stadium for the Cotton Bowl on Monday. We’ll have two more trucks on-site for press conference coverage leading up to the big game. It’s been a busy year of football in the great state of Texas!
- This Thursday, we’re at the Birmingham Bowl where the University of South Florida faces the South Carolina Gamecocks. The very next day, we’ll take that same truck to New Orleans to prepare for the Sugar Bowl on Monday night.
- We’ve had a couple of engineers at the Georgia Dome all week handling satellite and fiber transmissions for ESPN’s coverage of all the events leading up to the Peach Bowl, which airs Saturday night on ESPN.
- Many of the same engineers will be heading to Tampa early next week to prepare for an unprecedented amount of transmission services. Our CK25, C27, C43 and C41 will be stationed at various locations in Tampa, along with multiple fiber encoding kits for pregame, game and post-game coverage of the College Football Playoff National Championship.
As much as football is keeping us busy, we have several other major events happening simultaneously.
- UFC 207: Nunes vs. Rousey is underway in Las Vegas. Our CK35 and two other trucks are there — along with five senior engineers and a project manager — prepping at T-Mobile Arena for what will surely be an exciting night of fighting. As usual, our team is handling both domestic and worldwide distribution of this Pay-Per-View event.
- We have two trucks ringing in the New Year in New Orleans. We will be providing transmission services for the New Orleans portion of the Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special on ABC. Let the good times roll!
- Another crazy year of golf is already upon us. Senior Golf Channel Engineer in Charge Tracy Michaels will be at the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui to kick off the PGA Tour. PSSI is looking forward to another great year of our exclusive partnership with Golf Channel.
- We will also be in Tampa for WWE Monday Night Raw at the Amalie Arena. Then it’s on to Jacksonville for SmackDown on Tuesday night. The WWE train never stops!
- Basketball is in full swing. Northeast Engineer Mike Howley will be covering the Boston College vs. Clemson game on Monday, the University of Rhode Island vs. Saint Joseph’s University game on Tuesday and the Providence College vs. Georgetown University game on Wednesday. That’s just one example of our guys in the field keeping plenty busy with college hoops!
Stay tuned to see what 2017 has in store for the PSSI Global Services team!
