Since January, PSSI Global Services has been contributing its expert engineering services and advanced satellite uplink technology to some of the world’s most popular entertainment awards shows — including the recent Grammy Awards on Feb. 15, 2016.
For the Grammys, PSSI provided an uplink truck and engineering support, including coordinating the transmission of Gwen Stefani’s live performance that was filmed at Warner Bros. Studios and inserted during a commercial break as part of the Grammy Awards telecast. In addition, the company provided uplinking of the red carpet coverage for transmission to Canadian viewers. PSSI also coordinated international distribution of the broadcast to 195 different countries, bringing the show to more than 23 million viewers worldwide.
Beyond providing services for the Grammys, the company has also had a presence at the Golden Globes, People’s Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards this season. Before awards season is over, PSSI will also provide support for the Film Independent Spirit Awards on Feb. 27, 2016, and the Academy Awards on Feb. 28, 2016.
With these entertainment awards shows comes a high-pressure environment, which demands professionals that are able to operate calmly and effectively to ensure the delivery of a seamless broadcast — a must for both television networks and their viewers. With more than 35 years of experience backed by an expert staff and industry-leading technologies, PSSI is able to consistently rise to the challenge.
